BBM Blackberry Messenger

We’ve all known for awhile that BBM was on its way to Android, we just weren’t sure of when. After all, we’ve seen leaks and ads for it for months now. There is some hope for the near future, though, as a beta tester has uploaded a video to show you what BBM for Android is going to look like. The video is courtesy of BlackBerryOS.com.

The video, which you can check out at the bottom, shows you around the BBM app and lets you in on a few of the features. Here are a few that we picked up from watching the video:

  • The design is pretty much exactly the same as BBM for Blackberry 10. No Android design elements anywhere in the app aside from the keyboard. This includes the stock ringtone for the app.
  • You can add contacts via NFC which is awesome. Instead of inputting contact details, just clap the phones together and done.
  • Aside from text messages, you can send pictures from your gallery (or take one with your camera), and send a voice note.
  • BBM is always present in the notification bar to let you know you’re connected. This can be both good and bad, depending on your preferences.

It’s not a full feature list, but something that gives you an idea of what to expect from the popular chat platform. Of course, if you want to see it for yourself, the video is below. It’s important to note that the video was set to private at least once today, so don’t be surprised if it happens again. If you have a moment, we’d love to hear your thoughts about BBM in the comments. Should Blackberry have gone with some Android design elements, or is the Blackberry 10 layout okay with you?
